Briar House, Twickenham

The skylights over the living and kitchen areas bring in plenty of light, whilst the bespoke doors to the patio, afford views over the private garden.

"The design was key; perfectly complementing our house, creating enjoyable, light spaces, and we were delighted with their outstanding customer service throughout - from design to completion!"

Jane wanted to build a new-build home for her mother in the grounds of her Grade II listed property in Twickenham. It needed to accommodate her mother's changing needs in case wheelchair access was required later. The project needed both listed building consent and planning consent. We worked closely with Richmond Planning Department's Conservation Officer to arrive at a mutually agreeable proposal. The project was to contrast with the traditional brick house.

The skylights over the living and kitchen areas bring in plenty of light, whilst the bespoke doors to the patio, afford views over the private garden. The property required its own utility services and we assisted with the organisation with the relevant suppliers. Jane's mother's dark timber antique furniture is beautifully displayed against the simple white walls and timber floors. The shower room /wet room, designed to accommodate showering whilst seated, gains light from a long glazed skylight.
