Extending and refurbishing a Grade II Listed Building and reverting from flats to a single family dwelling was a labour of love and a return of a local asset to Richmond Borough.

"This now beautiful Grade II listed house in the heart of Richmond has been lovingly returned to the family home it was meant to be, and we could not have done it without Architecture WK. Thanks to Sam and her team we had a clear vision of how to create the spaces we wanted. Sam guided us through the complex planning application process and through the construction and specification and tendering processes, being there on site throughout. Thank you very much for all your work; we're thrilled and delighted with our new home."

This Grade II Listed Building was built in the early 1840's and split into three flats in the 1980's and 1990's.   The property had not been properly maintained, with leaks in the roof, serious damp issues in the lower ground floor and almost all of the original features having been removed in the conversion to flats. Our heroic clients took on a project that was not just about creating the home of their dreams, but also about returning a Heritage Asset back to the Borough. The lower ground floor was extended to create a family kitchen and dining room, linked through to the front room.   Bringing light in was done by banking the garden slope and recreating a roof terrace with walk-on glass. The property was refurbished throughout and period features brought back in to bring the house back to as close as would have been envisioned in the 1840s with some twists that allow it to be a comfortable home in the 21st century.
